Why roles matter

Zite is used by very different people — field workers collecting data, reviewers checking it, and managers who set everything up — all in the same platform. Roles are what tailor Zite to each of them, so everyone sees exactly what they need and nothing they don't.

A role answers two questions together: what a person can do (view, collect, review, edit, or configure), and where they can do it — across the whole project, or only certain regions or sites. That second part is called scoping.

Getting roles right keeps your data safe and the app simple for each person. This guide explains the roles and what scoping means; the how-to guides Add a user and Assign a role & set scope walk through setting them.
