Start from the question you want answered
A data view is a table, and the view type decides what one row of that table stands for. Pick the type first — it cannot be changed once the view exists — and everything else follows: which fields you can add as columns and which filters you get.
Two types cover most needs:
Case — one row per form submission. Choose it when you want to read the actual answers: every inspection, every survey, every incident report.
Site — one row per site. Choose it when you want one line per place with the latest or most common answers and counts rolled up from all its submissions: a site register, a coverage list, a "which schools still lack X" table.
The other eight answer more specific questions:
I want to see… | Type |
|---|---|
A one-page snapshot of the whole project | |
Totals per team member | |
Every single action, who did it and when | |
Tasks, their status, owners and due dates | |
How sites spread across regions | |
The people in the contact list | |
The beneficiary register | |
Entries from a data table in project settings |
Case, Site, Project and User views are built on one or more forms; the other six need no form. Select a type above to read about it, or use the buttons below.
